Borgsjöbyn, on the E14
route from Sundsvall to Trondheim, was traditionally known as
Träporten, the gateway to the realm of trees.
Under this
name you now find a campsite which since 2007 is in the hands of a
Dutch family. In addition to a three-star campsite Träporten
also has simple cottages, hotel rooms and a much praised restaurant.
Träporten is idyllicly situated on the banks of the
lake with the name Borgsjö. Besides the beach, the slide and a
jetty swimmers will appreciate the wonderful temperature (in the
summer) of the crystal clear water.

The campsite
The campsite is well laid out and has
no fixbordered pitches. On the lawns you can choose your own
favorite pitch for your tent, caravan or motorhome.
The lawns
offer much play area for the children, besides some swings on the
lawn there is a small playground on the edge of the
campsite.At the edge of the lake an entirely new sauna
was built.
In the servicefacilities in the main
building there is, besides clean toilets and showers, a laundry
with washer and dryer.
Furthermore, the campsite has a
cookingcabin equipped with stoves and ovens. Here you will also find
hot water for washing the dishes. Elsewhere on the campsite, there
are opportunities to fill your cleanwatertank and to dispose off
your wastewater and the contents of your chemical toilet.
Use
of the showers and hot watertaps is free for guests of the campsite
The sauna and laundry facilities can be used at a small
fee.
For camping Träporten you don´t need a
Swedish campingcard.
The Cottages
Whilst traveling
through Sweden you often see signs "stuga" or its plural
"stugor". A number of tourists have discovered that
sleeping in these cottages is a cheap and convenient way to
travel around Sweden. In general it are simple cottages which
are equiped with heating and cookingfacilities. Usualy linen is
not included, you bring your own, and the cottage is to be cleaned on
leaving.
Camping Träporten has seven of these
cottages. Three of which have a private shower and toilet. One
of these sleeps three people, the other two. The remaining
four cottages are without their own shower and toilet, you
can use of the facilities of the campsite. On the plusside these
cottages are equiped with four berths.
The Hotel
rooms
Adjacent to the restaurant, there are five basic hotel
rooms. One of these rooms has three beds, the others two. The rooms
have a sink with hot and cold running water. The toilet and shower
are shared by all rooms.
The very reasonable prices of the hotel
rooms include a tasty breakfast.
The restaurant
Träporten is localy known as a excellent restaurant where
you can eat real good food for a very reasonable price. The food
on offer ranges from an á la carte menu with delicious meat
and fish dishes to hamburgers. Recommended are the 'dagens', the
cheap but good menu of the day. Local favourites are
the McCallans hamburgermeal, Trout with sauce of the region and
Pork tenderloin ´Oscar´. More details on the restaurant,
